Your thoughts about team Canada ?Hi everybody !
This is a new thing for me, being part of a "team", lol
What do you think about team canada? What do you think GDTC will be doing?
How should we go about being a Team ?
Any suggestions of activities? About the forums?
I think it's the best time to hear everyone's opinion while all this is taking shape.
I have a few loose suggestions of my own:
- Organizing regional get togethers, for painting or else. Since we are pretty far from each other, that would be small attendance, so anyone with a dedicated room could organise one once ina while.
- A section for carpooling, travel solutions and lodging. This would help us attend more events more easily.
- Relayed painting like there is on CMON would be nice, and painting competitions between us too.
Give your suggestions now, and let's get this thing moving!

Personally, I think we should have a bunch of regional "teams" such as the existing Team Toronto, but communicate equally with one another through here.

The regional idea sounds good, it could help to keep the team as a whole together.
I suppose painting contests within the team will be held, as we have some pretty talented guys here and it should be fun. And it looks like I'm moving to Toronto, oddly enough, so I will be joining you guys at Games Day. I look foward to judging at one of our regional competitions that I'll be organizing in the future.

Elitist... why would we want to do that. Isn't this suppose to be a collective place for hobbyist to regroup. The term "team" is probably not the most perfect term for the task here. The Spanish Team is a pretty large group that goes around to European GDs but it's not all of them that brings back resin statues. France does not have a team. They where the t-shirt of the French Waaagh most of the time. It is basically a collective sense of identity. I think that for now the best thing to do is to let it breath. Give the forum some time to be known. Let other painters joined. Let those painters start to know each other and then we can see what will happen. Team Toronto seem to want to keep their independance and that is fine by me as Team Montreal leans on the same side. On our side we are a group of friends that gathers for a dinner and chat once in a while, painting classes with painters that we invite and competition at the same time. 3 of us have Golden Demons and a few more Warpstones but the other members that are more keen on developing armies or simply improving their skills along with us were and are more than welcome. An elitist approach will lead us no where in my opinion. It is like a good bottle of red wine. We have just unscrewed it, so for now let it breath before drinking it.

Was that post meant to be in the other thread? I'm not sure if anyone mentioned elitists here.

Shirts or tattoos.
Probably Shirts would be preferred by most members. With the web addie on 'em.
That and think of the "different chapters" <read provinces/areas/however> would do to get noticed. IE, Banners or pamphets, tables at events, store contests, etc....
Get the word out and create buzz, and people will flock.
Word of moth works too. IE, the Bolter and chainsword. It was very small wayyyy back. Now it's huge.
Links where ya can But be serious about this. if ya wanna attract "certain" elements, think the best
spots to put these links.
just some comments. Ignore at yer leisure.

i think to cover as much ground and as many people two things need to be considered
Gaming and Modelling
each team should have each(but people can of course be both)
Gamers: They should be people who are interested in competing, improving their knowledge in gameplay and the like as i believe a team is created to improve on something, rather than JUST being a meeting ground
Modellers: People who like to compete in the modelling aspect, who want to learn all sorts of techniques and actually try to improve, this will help spread the knowledge and prove that you dont need to be the most talented artist to paint decent models, just need some knowledge and practice
this is of course with the object of fun at the forefront, just with a side of "get better or ill hurt you" :P
my ideas at least

Starks, you are a genius! The gaming aspect of the team! Of course members can be both modellers and gamers, but the idea that we could have members who enter national and international tournaments and GTS as well as GDer's is a great idea. I think that we may just have to have that aspect incoporated into the team. None of the others have it as far as I know.. What do you guys think?

I see absolutely no reason not to include the gamers of Canada as well.
