Saint-Ex's WIP's
Here's one I've been working on for a while, I had started in acrylics but eventualy stripped everything and got back to something I know better, Oils. I wanted to try something differnt from zenital lighting so I angled the light to come from the directing he's looking at for a bit more drama. This is a first for me. I still need to work on the white of the sleeves and small details. I'm not sure about the face plate of the cap being red and I think I'll go with Black with Gold detail. Too much red in that front view.

oh my, I see talent. I really like that miniature and I never saw it in red (odd) I like how you did the face, full of expression!

Cherub- 02-16-2008

I quite like the red you painted.

Ainu- 02-16-2008

Really love the shadows with the white and red robe. Fantastic work!

Legacy40k- 02-17-2008

Artists Oils? That's interesting and different... What problems were you having with Acrylics?

Starks333- 02-17-2008

wow i missed that, I KNEW IT!!! it looked too much like a historical style piece :P traitor! hahaha it looks good though, and if it takes oils to do it, why not? :P Acrylics are definetly tricky at times Starks

Here's something from Dark Ages for prOfane, Sawblade. This one is me experiementing with acrylics

Pr0fane- 02-19-2008

Wow...that is frikken awesome! I love the palette you used. Excellent work, Saint-Ex.

A bit of progress I decided to paint the face plate in black to make the details stand out and also because the whole thing was getting a bit Red  Gold face plate details are in acrylics shaded with brown and purple. A bit more on the Sawblade also, mainly the blade itself and the thigh plates. My first attemp at oxidation on the back of the shield.

The Unforgiven- 02-24-2008

Nice ! I really like the smoothness of the reds !

Artists Oils? That's interesting and different... What problems were you having with Acrylics? I guess I'm just an old fart who can't adjust...

Starks333- 02-24-2008

nah they take effort and understanding :) i can show you guys in person but we need an actual sit down, its hard to do it forcefully :P the mini is looking good so far, the sawblade needs more work, i actually got one in the mail :O Starks

Saint-Ex- 02-24-2008

The Sawblade's actually got a nice mold line going down the top of his head and down his neck. Talk about tunnel vison.

Pr0fane- 02-29-2008

Unfortunately the molds for some of our original models are beginning to show wear & tear. If you ever do get a Dark Age fig that you're not happy with (because of molding/casting issues) please feel free to let me know and I'll see about getting you a replacement.

Saint-Ex- 02-29-2008

No need to feel bad about this, I should have spotted that way before. No the figures was OK, not the best casting I've seen but very reasonable. Mind you with this guy it’s hard to see what is detail and what is mold line.
